I was invited to give a presentation at the TeX Users Group 35th Annual Meeting, July 28–30, 2014, in Portland, Oregon. In attendance would be many of the gurus of the TeX world. As just a TeX user, what could I say that would be new to much of the audience? Thinking many would not be proficient in R, I decided to do something on merging R and TeX. R and TeX are both free, open source, liberally licensed software, that are developed by a community of volunteers. This commonality is one reason I thought R might be of interest.
